Galina Brychkova

Dr Galina Brychkova is a Lecturer in Agricultural Sciences at the Plant and AgriBiosciences Research Centre in the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences at the University of Galway. Trained in genetics and biotechnology, her research focuses on applying cutting-edge science and technologies to address challenges in the agriculture and agri-food sectors. 
 
Her work is highly interdisciplinary, spanning agri-genetics, biotechnology, molecular biology, tissue culture, biochemistry, enzymology, and metabolomics, with more recent research incorporating GIS, climate adaptation, and modelling. Dr Brychkova’s research aims to develop and improve novel and alternative food products, and to apply science and biotechnology to support food security and sustainability in both developed and developing countries. 
 
She is a member of the BioInnovator Campus Education and Learning Sub-committee, working with agri-food and ag-tech companies in Ireland, and has authored over 30 peer-reviewed papers, along with book chapters and conference publications.
